Mycah’s head lolled to one side as she was carried by the Invaders, the energy required to move Sorrel and Dio so far had drained her completely. Her eyes fluttered open briefly to see feet moving below her before she slipped back into unconsciousness.
“Where are we going?” Mycah piped up, “this isn’t the way to the Dragon Centre.”
“How do you know which way the Dragon Centre is?” Chenyo asked in surprise.
“I don’t know, I just do. It’s that way,” she said pointing east. He smiled gently;
“You are correct, Mycah. We are taking you with us to collect the boys instead of dropping you at the centre.” They walked along in silence for a short while until Mycah shifted into a monkey and leapt into the trees; she ran along the branches, her little hands making pattering noises against the bark. She kept her tail wrapped tight and lifted off the branches; she chattered loudly as she ran, Chenyo watched as she jumped a gap in the branches landing smoothly. “You’ve done this before,” he said with a laugh.
“It’s more fun to play in the forest as an animal,” she said telepathically to him. “How far to the Mage colony?” she added.
“Not far, we might be walking a day or two, but not much further.” Chenyo said; “so tell me about yourself.”
“I don’t know what to say...” she said, jumping from the tree and shifting, landing on her feet.
“Well, you said you are five, yes?” she nodded. “How long have you lived with Mistress Elys?”
“Since I was two. She found me in the forest and she took me to the Orphanage and then I met Lux and Bria.”
“Are they your friends?”
“Yep,” she replied cheerily. “Well, they were, but now I’m going away so we won’t be friends.”
“That’s true, I suppose. Are you sad?”
“I guess, but I’ll make more friends!” she said excitedly, shifting again this time to a wolf.
Raffy’s claws clacked on the roof as he paced; his tail lashed from side to side and his eyes were clouded. The moonlight cast rippling light across Raffy’s scales as he walked to and fro; he cast his mind out into the forest again, scanning for any sign of Mycah. When he found nothing, he roared in anger, fire building in his chest; blue flames burst from his mouth shooting five foot away from him scorching the top of the roof tiles. With a snarl his shut his mouth ending the fire abruptly; turning away he continued to pace. He was unaware of Red and Sorrel watching him from below.
Mycah opened her eyes properly and lifted her head, wincing at the bright light she turned her head away and closed her eyes. With a groan she opened her eyes and waited until they adjusted to the light.
“Ugh.” She moaned; she went to move her arms but found they were fixed in position at her side, the same with her legs. “What the?” she started as she looked down. She realised she was in a thin woollen shift and her arms and legs were bound with chains. Shooting a glance around the room she saw a door directly in front of her, which opened as three people entered; the two men stood on either side of the door, both tall and broad while the woman walked forward uncertainly. Mycah simply stared at her as she busied herself with her clipboard seemingly unwilling to look at her.
“Who are you?” Mycah asked, her voice loud in the otherwise silent room; she saw the woman jump and look at her in shock.
“You speak our language,” she said in surprise, her eyes wide.
“Wow, you’re clearly the smart one.” Mycah scoffed, turning her head away. “So why the chains?”
“To stop the magic,” she said, clearly proud of the idea. Mycah laughed loudly, then stopped suddenly.
“Oh, sorry...you’re serious? Could you actually be any more stupid?” She laughed again; “you really think the magic comes from my hands. If it did I couldn’t do this,” she watched in amusement as the lady’s clipboard was ripped from her hands and went flying across the room at one of the men who ducked just in time to avoid it smashing into his skull. He cussed loudly and took a step towards her before he was stopped by the other man putting his hand on his chest.
“Good boy,” she said patronisingly. Shifting her glance back to the woman she smiled softly; “I’m sorry, did you need that? I can bring it back for you if you like...”
“No!” She shouted throwing her hands in the air.
“So, I’m guessing you’re a Narai, seen as you are completely clueless about magic.”
“A what? A Narry?” Mycah snorted as she fought to control her laughter.
“Nah-rye. It’s really not difficult,” Mycah said. She spoke softly and the chains popped open; the woman leapt back with a yelp and the two men ran forward instantly. Lifting a hand she pushed both men back to the wall where she held them; walking towards the woman she lifted a hand.
“No, no, please.” She begged.
“I won’t hurt you, but I need your mind.” Mycah said slowly.
“My-my mind?” she stuttered, she pulled back clutching her head as Mycah’s mind infiltrated hers; quickly extracted the information she needed and removed herself from her mind. Muttering a short sentence the woman crumpled to the floor; she turned to the men and watched as their eyes rolled back in their heads. She pulled the door open and strode from the room; she shifted into female deer and walked through the halls of the buildings cautiously, she cast her mind before her and found no obstructions. As she continued she rounded a corner as a lady walked out of a room, she gasped as she saw the deer and as she blinked Mycah shifted into a fly leaving the woman wide eyed and very confused. Coming round another corner she changed back to her human self and pushed through a door, as she stepped outside she inhaled deeply.
“Hey!” Shouted a voice from across the hard rock
