“It isn’t natural,” she said, she turned and looked up; Sorrel and Dio joined her and looked up too. “There,” she pointed at a small black dot just above the door. “Do you see it?” she asked. They both nodded. Twisting her hands palm up she raised herself with a wall of air until she was level with the dot and she pulled it down; as it touched her hand she jerked back dropping it onto the floor. “Don’t touch it!” she warned them as they stood below. “It feels like static shock.” She stated and laughed when Sorrel touched it despite her warning and jumped backwards clutching his hand.
“Wait,” said Dio. “I can still feel it, but behind me.” Mycah nodded and pushed herself across the room until she felt the pulsing wave which made the hair on her arms stand on end. She reached across and plucked something off of the wall; it was a small round orb, a similar size to the previous one. This one felt different to the other, Mycah could feel the power of it but it felt strange.
“It feels like its watching.” She dropped it down to Dio who caught it and rolled it in his fingers.
“I see what you mean, I feel it too,” he said chucking it to Sorrel who caught it easily one handed.
“Uh huh, I can feel that.” He passed it back to Mycah who had landed gently beside him; she infused her fingers with a small amount of magic and touched the item before pulling her hands away which separated it into each compartment.
The components floated in front of them; one in particular caught their eye, a little chip with immense detail and several small components on it. Dio pinched it between his fingers and pulled it away from the rest; he examined it and used a little of his own magic to pull the bits off of it.
“What is it?” Sorrel asked, flicking one of the floating cogs away from him.
“It’s a camera, I think” Mycah said moving her hands in a circular shape and twisting the elements in the air. “It records and sends it to another chip, like the one you have,” she indicated to Dio.
“Well, where did it come from?” Sorrel asked playing with his own magic.
“This isn’t a technology that we have created, it’s too” she paused as she thought of a word. “Technical.” She laughed quietly. “This has to be Invader technology.” Sorrel frowned,
“But no Invaders have been here, how did it get here?”
“Rebels” said Mycah and Dio in unison.
“It has to be, there isn’t another option. But why bother planting it? What do they hope to gain from it?” Asked Sorrel, getting bored with playing with the camera, he pushed the item back into the force field that she had created with her hands.
“Hmm,” Dio said disbanding his magic and sending the chip back to Mycah.
“I think they were hoping to gain information on us, but I don’t know if it was purely information they were gathering or whether they were trying to find a way to beat us?”
“There aren’t any more in here, right?” Sorrel asked lying on his back, with a grunt he readjusted himself pulling his sword out from under his back. Mycah shook her head.
“I need to spar before I go insane, I have way too much energy” she moaned. She undid her sword belt and dropped it on the floor by the door, shaking out her arms she prepared herself with a little stretching and running through some hand to hand combat movements. She moved slowly at first before speeding up and she began to blur through the motions; stopping suddenly she bounced to a halt and looked at Dio. “Fight me?” She said with a grin, he grinned back and dropped his sword on the floor beside hers. He dropped into a defensive position, one arm high above him and the other in front of him; he beckoned her forwards with two fingers and a grinned confidently. Mycah flicked her hair over her shoulder and raised both eyebrows; she jumped forwards, her legs spinning as her body twisted. She flew over his head clipping him as he ducked and landed on the other side of him; he had followed her trajectory as she moved, his hazel eyes locked onto her body. He aimed a kick at her chest as she landed which she rolled away from easily. She dropped back, crouching low and waited for his next move, she grinned at him as he stepped forwards. They both jumped forwards at the same time and collided in the air where the hung, their bodies twisting and rotating away from each other as they blocked shots and dodged fists. When they dropped down to the mat Dio wipe the back of his hand across his nose and saw blood. He scowled at her,
“Ow!” he twitched his nose and grimaced in pain before jumping over her as she rocketed towards him; he landed on his hands and flipped landing beside his sword which he unsheathed and held pointing at her, “bring it.” She laughed as she launched forwards to attack him; he sliced left and right aiming for her body but meeting nothing but air as she seemed to anticipate every move he made and had already dodged it before he had begun. She swiped his legs out from underneath him and sent him sprawling on the floor, she cart wheeled over him, her hand closed over her scabbard which she pulled up as she righted herself. She took out her sword and twisted the grip in her hand until it felt just right; she positioned herself as he stood up and picked up his own blade. They touched steel to steel before freezing in position, in a whirl of motion they started to duel again; the sound of their swords colliding echoed in the Dojo and out of the open door. They fought for a short while before separating; Mycah watched Dio’s face and noted that slightly distant look he got whenever he concentrated on connecting his mind with someone. She sent out a wave of magic and intercepted the connection and listened in without him knowing. She smiled knowingly internally and waited patiently for the “plan” to commence. She didn’t have to wait long.
Dio swung at her clumsily which she easily rolled away from; Sorrel popped up behind her and went to grab her as Dio ran forwards. She jumped five foot in the air ducking to miss banging her head on the ceiling of the Dojo and laughed hysterically as Dio barrelled head first into Sorrel’s chest as he wrapped his arms around his head. They went flying backwards and smashed into the solid wall of the Dojo and crumpled in a heap on the floor, groaning. Sorrel was holding his chest and gasping for air while Dio had a hand on the back of his neck as he lay flat on the floor squirming in pain. Mycah laughed so hard her magic faltered and dropped to the floor suddenly crumpling as she landed, she rolled around tears streaming down her face. Another laugh joined hers and she managed to lift her head for long enough to see Chenyo standing in the doorway looking at them.
“Dio, do you remember when I told you that Mycah could easily beat you in a fight?” Chenyo said giggling as he spoke. Dio simply groaned and continued holding his neck; he managed to pull himself up into a sitting position and raised his eyes to look at Chenyo. “I’m pretty sure that just firmly proved my point,” he said beginning to laugh again. He looked across to Mycah who had pulled herself onto her hands and knees and was still laughing insanely, her sides heaving. She finally managed to control the laughing until just a few titters escaped and she sat up and wiped the tears off of her face.
“Awh, man. That was just too awesome.” She picked up her sword and stood up, “way too easy but seriously funny.” She walked over to them and put her hand on both of their legs, “connect.” She commanded and rolled her eyes as they looked at each other awkwardly. “Oh come on, I’m not asking you to kiss, just connect.” With manly groans they touched each other’s arms and Chenyo could see and feel the magic that rolled off of them. The magic they shared quickly healed the muscle damage that Dio had received and fixed the broken ribs which Sorrel had been cradling. They both squirmed as the magic flushed through them but clearly felt much better once they had been healed.
“I see you learnt a lot when you were...away.” Chenyo said with a faint smile.
“We did,” Mycah said standing, she bounded over to where she had dropped her sword belt which she picked up and placed her sword in. “I want to get changed and then speak to the Rebels, if that’s okay with you two?” She said to Sorrel and Dio who nodded, their clothes rumpled from the fight and collision.
“Raffy,” Mycah called. “Want to give me a lift back?”
“Sure,” he said. She heard the deafening roar he let loose and the terrified screams of the Rebels; he snickered internally and took off buffeting them with heavy wind from his big translucent wings. He landed solidly outside the Dojo seconds later; Mycah ran out to meet him and scampered up his leg, she dropped her scabbard as she climbed which he hooked with an ivory talon. He pushed off and held his wings half out and glided over the Dragon Centre buildings landing outside her quarters; he flipped the sword belt into the air which she caught in midair as she jumped from his back. Once through the door she stripped naked and tugged on a pair of white panties and her white robe from before. She pushed her arm through her quiver and carefully pulled the pale bow from the leather slip; she restrung it and draped it over her shoulder. From the chest at the end of her bed she removed a smaller sword belt which matched the one for her usual sword and tied it around her waist. She opened a dark wood box and from the velvet line inside she removed a beautifully crafted dagger. It was a unique blade; the blade itself was fourteen inches long and brightly coloured steel. The blade was not a normal straight blade but instead jagged with multiple sharp edges; its appearance was similar to a lightning bolt which had originated at the cross-guard. The guard was shaped like the open wings of a dragon the body of which continued up the hilt which was raised like scales. The pommel was a in the shape of a dragons head which had curled back on its self to make a small loop in which was a bright blue sapphire. The steel was coloured beautifully, at the dagger’s tip it was pure white and it slowly turned changed colour to a deep blue, hitting an emerald green in the centre of the blade. It was the only coloured item she wore, her sword belts were both black in order to stand out against the white of her clothing. She turned the blade over in her hand and tested the sharpness of the exquisite blade; smiling to herself she gently slid it into the black sheath on her hip. She left her quarters with her hand on the pommel of her dagger, she looked to her right and saw Sorrel and Dio leaving their quarters too; Sorrel had a beautiful weapon in his hands which he was looking at in awe.
