Word Count: 14,003!

Chenyo stood silent and watched them intently; they quickly noted his disapproving look and stood silent. Mycah connected her mind with Raffy’s again and saw through his eyes without saying a word. This time it felt much more in control and less strange; she murmured a word for sight and one for organising and found that she could see from her view through her amber eye, but she could see through Raffy’s eyes with her blue eye. Blinking once or twice to rid herself of the slight blur, she moved forwards with Raffy by her side.
“This is so strange,” she muttered. Raffy walked to one side of the Dojo while Mycah moved to the other, his talons digging into the soft matting silencing his travel. He turned before Mycah and allowed her to see Sorrel who was sneaking up behind her; she waited until he raised his arm to strike her across the back of her head before ducking under it spinning quickly and swiping his legs out from underneath him. He landed with a heavy thud which pushed all the out of his lungs; he lay gasping until he regained the ability to breathe.
“How did you know I was there?” he said, gulping in air.
“I can see through Raffy as well as through my own eyes.” Raffy pushed her out of his mind and she could suddenly see just her view; “that was seriously strange!”
“How did you do it?” Dio asked coming up behind her. Thinking back she went to speak but was interrupted by Chenyo.
“You need to work out the best way for you to do it. Mycah has a more advanced level of magic than you, if you try the way she did you could find yourself with consequences you didn’t think of.”
“She’s at an advantage though!” whined Sorrel.
“Hardly. When you were learning magic from your parents and brothers and sisters I was in an orphanage. I had to teach myself and trust me, there were more than enough consequences.” Sorrel and Dio looked at her in surprise,
“but, what about your parents?” Dio asked quietly.
“My mother, Tia, was killed by a Mage when she was working in the Southern tip of the forest. And my Father, Zeek, was murdered when I turned three...he had gone with a group to examine the Invaders hold and they were chased off by the Mages straight into the arms of a recon Invader troop.”
“Mages killed both your parents?” said Sorrel looking at Dio.
“Technically, yes. But I know the Shifters have killed Mages and Teles alike so I don’t hold it against them.”
“That is very mature of you, Mycah,” Chenyo said, looking at her tenderly. She smiled faintly;
“Anyway, what now?”

Dio’s house was in the centre of the colony as his Father was tipped to become an Elder soon; as they strode from their tall white house and into the tall white Elder Council building they were accompanied by several servants who ran behind them. Dio’s long black cape flapped behind him as he walked alongside his Father. One of the servants opened the door to the Elders Council and they were greeted by a man of Dio’s Father’s age and he took them through to the Elders Chambers.
“Ah, hello Areo.” Said one of the Elders, dressed in a plain black tunic, his hooded cape draped across the back of his high backed chair. “What can I do for you?” he finished with a smile and looked down to Dio, who looked back up at him nervously.
“I believe my son has the powers of an Elemental. I tested him myself and the water pulled towards him, the pebble flew to his hand and the fire touched without burning.” The Elder nodded as Areo spoke;
“I see, I see. We must test him ourselves as you are well aware; we can do it now and then we shall decide what needs to happen.” Areo nodded as the Elder called the others into his chamber. They all greeted Areo warmly and looked at Dio with questioning looks.
“It appears we may have a Chosen One in the room with us,” the Elder said. “We are going to test him then decide on the next step. Agreed?” a murmur spread through the room as they agreed.
They watched as Dio lit the candle, the flame almost black in colour which drew words of encouragement from the Elders who watched him. As he lifted a hand towards it they saw it lean towards him and brush across his fingers; next they offered him the bowl of water which tipped in his direction as his hand drew near. And finally, the pebble which jumped to his hand before he had picked it up.
“I think, judging by what we have seen that we can safely agree that Dio does have the power. We will contact the Dragon Masters of the Dragon Centre and we shall inform you of their answer as soon as it arrives, Areo.” He nodded, thanked them for their time and left, leaving Dio to follow behind him.

The First Flux had settled into their new houses and were beginning to get used to the noises of the Skyeyla forest; the weather was very different to the Rheso weather they had left. None of them new the planet they way it had been before the troubles started; they had been born into a world that was dying and if they hadn’t left they would have died with it. They all believed that finding this planet had been a miracle that they weren’t going to turn down; the world’s population had been destroyed the first time the volcano’s had erupted as they had filled the air with a cloying smoke that killed millions of people. As they moved around the camp talking to the families they had connected with they waited for the soldiers to bring their valuables along with them. They hadn’t been allowed to bring much with them due to the fact they were travelling through space with not a lot of space for unnecessary items. As the First Flux of civilians on the planet they were amazed at the world they had a chance to create a new life for themselves and their families; they already had plans of what they wanted to do with the village which they had been told they were allowed to do whatever they wanted with as long as it didn’t interfere with the main soldier base. This was a chance for them to create the world they had always wanted to live in; they had been told they needed to elect some officials who would be direct contact to the soldiers should they need anything.
Chief Commander Jones and Co-Commander Patrick pulled into the village on the hover bikes and switched off the engines leaving them in silence once again.
“Good morning,” they said cheerfully in unison.
“I hope you slept well,” Jones said with a smile. “We need everyone here as we need to discuss something important with you.” He waited while shouts went out across the village and people flocked around them ; “everyone here? Wonderful!” he said. “What we need to talk about is something we thought long and hard about before we decided where to build this village.”
“It was not something to be taken lightly,” added Pat. Jones nodded before continuing;
“When we came to this planet we found native people.” This drew shocks and gasps from the crowd, “I know, we should have told you before but the timing wasn’t right. But, we are certain that there are no others in this area and that you are perfectly safe out here. The issue with the natives is that we aren’t entirely sure they are human; we have encountered those who seem to have the ability to read minds. I know, I know. I didn’t believe it either, but it’s true.”
“We have also found a few who appeared to be able to do magic of some sort, as well as some who can change shape. Shape shifters as you will, but we understand only into animals,” Pat said.
“Now, we have taken preventative measures to keep you safe here, but we need your help to make the defences stronger and the easiest way to do that is for you to help so you know how everything works. It sounds crude but we want to build a large fence around the perimeter of the village which will help keep natives out.” Jones looked several people in the eyes and saw the fear.
“Many of you may have noticed the ring of rocks that surrounds the village, it is something we found works one hundred percent of the time to keep all three natives out. We are uncertain why, but we have scientists working on it.” Pat could see the same fear in their eyes but saw the mild reassurance too.
“Finally,” Jones said. “We would like to start giving you jobs around the hold. We need ten to fifteen people to help with the Second Flux of civilians who have just come to Skyeyla. We want to help them settle into quarantine and let them get to know about this planet as much as they can before they are moved into their village. You are by all means welcome to move villages but it is something you will have to work out among villages as we want you to become self sufficient as soon as possible.” Five people stepped forwards to volunteer helping the Second Flux settle in.

“Loki!” Shrieked Sorrel as the black dragon pounced on his foot as he walked past. “That’s the third time today,” he said scowling.
“Sorry,” Dio said. “He’s got too much energy. Come, Loki.”
Meanwhile, Mycah and Raffy were running around in the forest; Mycah had shifted into her monkey and was running across branches closely followed by Raffy. He was getting much better at keeping his balance on the branches, when they had first started he had fallen off almost every second step. As he ran along behind her he blew a puff of hot smoke at her just catching her long black tail; she chattered loudly at him and bared her sharp teeth. She quickly shifted into her hawk and ruffled her feathers before tipping forwards and gliding to the ground, her wings barely open.
“You try,” she said to Raffy; her mismatched eyes looking up at him from the ground. She watched as he turned to face her, his ivory talons gripping tightly, his prehensile tail wound around the branch; he tipped forwards slowly and dropped from the branch, his pale eyes studying everything. Carefully he partially unfurled his translucent wings and drifted to an ungainly landing just in front of her; as his front legs hit the ground he toppled forwards and did a forward roll ending up on his back. Mycah laughed internally and shifted to help him back up; “let’s try again” she said smiling. Shifting back to her monkey she scampered back up the tree and returned to her hawk form before gliding back down to the lead litter. Raffy tried again and this time landed firmly on his hind legs and tail before tucking his wings back in and placing his front legs on the ground.
“Well done Raffy!” Mycah said excitedly; “we should go show Chenyo and you can teach Red and Loki how to do it.”
“We should,” he replied, his voice much deeper than before. Shaking his wings out, he turned and bounded away closely followed by Mycah in her wolf form. As they ran side by side, Mycah realised what this would mean for her colony and Sorrel and Dio’s. Three Dragon Masters with dragons was unheard of, but it meant they had a fighting chance against the Invaders, especially with the Rebel’s help. Even though she was three years younger than Sorrel and Dio she knew she was more powerful and she had been born with all three Magics and the ability to control the Elements; she felt extremely lucky and was determined to defend her planet no matter what happened. Slowing down to a walk, she enjoyed the forest noises before they got quietened down around the Dragon Centre. As they pushed out onto the flat, open area surrounding the Dojo; with a laugh she threw herself into the air and shifted back into her eagle and shot skyward before spiralling down towards the Dojo and Raffy who was watching her with his ice blue eyes.
“You seem full of energy,” Chenyo said as he exited the Dojo. Mycah simply laughed and landed beside Raffy who had grown yet again.
